This cookie dough recipe ‘works like Ozempic,’ says health expert

She says this Oreo recipe will leave you doubly full.

A California health coach is going viral on TikTok for her five-ingredient cookie dough that she claims “works like the natural version of Ozempic.”

“The way Ozempic works is that it synthetically releases a naturally occurring gut hormone called GLP-1,” explains Aesha Karunakaran in a clip posted last month that garnered 91,100 views.

“Your GLP-1 is your hormone responsible for making you feel full. So when you feel full, that’s a sign that your GLP-1 is being released.”

She continued: “After consuming a lot of calories, you release GLP-1, feel full, and stop eating.”

Aesha Karunakaran said her recipe helped her lose 15 pounds in 60 days.

Although the Beverly Hills beauty insists the cookie mix helped her lose 15 pounds in 60 days, one nutritionist argues it’s not “a one-size-fits-all solution to weight loss.”

The Post has contacted Karunakaran and nutritionists for comment.

Intended for weight management in obese adults with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, Ozempic has become Hollywood’s most sought after rapid weight loss drug.

But some patients have reported serious side effects from the fast-acting injectable, such as loose skin where oil used to be.

“Ozempic is a calorie-free GLP-1, and that means it releases high, high, high amounts of GLP-1 synthetically, so you feel full without eating anything. You create a huge caloric deficit,” Karunakaran explained.

“Now, whey protein actually releases large amounts of GLP-1 naturally, which is why we started this recipe with two scoops of all-natural whey protein and used cupcake batter,” she said, pouring the powder into a bowl.

“Whey protein is digested too quickly, so you wouldn’t be able to release as much GLP-1 with whey protein alone, so we need to slow down the digestion of this whey protein with fiber.”

Karunakaran instructed viewers to add two tablespoons of coconut flour, two tablespoons of rolled oats mixed with oatmeal, and a quarter cup of milk before mixing.

He then sprinkled a crushed Oreo on top of his creation.

“I promise you, you’ll probably have a hard time eating much more after this cookie dough because it releases such high amounts of GLP-1 and works like a natural version of Ozempic to suppress your appetite,” she stated.

If that sounds like too much work, Karunakaran also sells cookie dough samples on his website.

While several TikTokers applauded her recipe, a spokesperson for New York-based private health and wellness nutrition practice Chelsea Nutrition told the Daily Mail that they “would not recommend eating this cookie dough as a one-off weight loss solution.” “.

“Claims that this cookie dough is equivalent to Ozempic can be dangerously misleading…” the representative was quoted as saying.

“Using this recipe as a weight loss ‘cure’ could lead to disordered eating patterns and could leave someone deficient in vitamins and minerals if their diet is not complete.”
