As Jesse Gemstone narrates, Season 3 “picks up where Eli Gemstone left off, a man who has done this job for thousands of years and is America’s Daddy Jesus.” The kids have finally been given the responsibility and attention they’ve been craving for the past two seasons, but they’ve quickly realized that running a mega-church empire isn’t as easy as it seems. Adding to the chaos, the privileged and entitled Gemstones face off with another side of evangelicals: alt-right conservatives, gun-obsessed, and good old days. Steve Zahn makes an appearance as one of their leaders and looks to serve as this season’s big villain following Eric Andre’s hilarious turn last season as the leader of Texas megachurch Lyle Lissons.
The new trailer promises a lot of Gemstone madness, including Judy driving a monster truck, Jesse investing in Nascar, Baby Billy performing at the Zion’s Landing resort, and luckily for all of us, Kelvin and Keefe’s (Tony Cavalero) continuing special friendship. “Succession” might be winding down, but that doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to your weekly dose of three unserious kids miserably failing to earn their powerful daddy’s respect and adoration… but with more ridiculousness.
“The Righteous Gemstones” returns to Max on June 18, 2023.
