Their Kards played well.
The Kardashians made a big appearance at the Met Gala this year following allegations they wouldn’t be hitting the red carpet.
Kim wore a skimpy, form-fitting gown “drip with pearls,” an ode to the iconic Chanel looks created by the evening’s honoree Karl Lagerfeld.
“I just wanted to feel glamorous,” she said on the carpet, admitting that she just “wanted to have a good time”.
“I took a photo before I came with my sisters,” said the first sister in the Kardashian-Jenner family to make a gala appearance tonight.
Her champagne-colored Schiaparelli number featured numerous pearl beads wrapped around her neck and cascading down the front of the dress. Not to take away from the pearly glamour, she paired the silk dress with a pair of white heels and a white shawl.
The SKIMS mogul stepped out at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel with her eldest daughter, North West, whom she was pregnant with at her first Met Gala attendance, while on her way to the charity event.
While children and teens under the age of 18 are not allowed to attend the event, Kim revealed that 9-year-old North was watching from the car window.
Kendall Jenner, wearing a beaded Marc Jacobs jumpsuit with billowing sleeves teamed with matching platform boots of gigantic proportions, recalled how Lagerfeld launched her career as a young model.
“I owe a lot to him and what he did for me,” she shared on the carpet, with Kim agreeing that the connection made it “super emotional”.
As for Kylie Jenner, who appeared in a cherry red dress with matching pumps, she’s simply “here to have a good time.”
“I’m really looking forward to making more memories with my sisters and seeing all the fashion,” said Kylie, who was seen leaving her hotel with her 5-year-old daughter Stormi Webster.
The most famous family in reality TV was rumored to be skipping this year’s hottest event, but not of their own free will.
Inside sources faced the allegations: One previously said the Kardashians would be excluded from this year’s extraordinary ensemble after Anna Wintour, global head of content for Condé Nast and global editorial director of Vogue, allegedly introduced a strict guest list.
But suspicions about the invitations mainly circulated around Kim, arguably the most famous member of the family.
She officially RSVPed in an Instagram post from April, which featured photos of her with Karl Lagerfeld’s beloved cat Choupette, writing that she was in the late designer’s office in Paris to gather “inspiration” for the gala.
At the Met, he admitted that meeting the famous feline was “a bit scary.”
“It takes a little bit of getting used to it,” Kim joked on the carpet.
Someone close to the family also denied the gossip in April, telling Page Six that pop culture royalty would be prom queen.
The swirl of rumors follows the Kardashians’ first Met Gala as a family last year with newer attendees Kourtney and Khloe in tow, though Kim has been around since 2013 when she went as a chaperone with now-exes. -Husband Kanye West.
Of course, her presence was not without controversy as Kim, 42, wore the legendary Marilyn Monroe gown that read “Happy Birthday Mr. President” last year. Not only was she criticized for her extreme weight loss in order to don the skintight, sparkly dress, but she was also accused of damaging her precious artifact.
The mother of four has been known for her daring couture at past Met Galas since earning her first invite while pregnant with her first child, North. Most notably, she donned an all-black Balenciaga outfit in 2021, complete with a billowy cape and mask, which only allowed her sleek, sleek ponytail to show.
But prior to the last decade, the Met Gala was Kardashian-Jenner-free because Wintour reportedly found the family distasteful.
“Anna hates Kim,” an inside source told Radar Online in 2012. “Why would they invite her to the event? They’re all the biggest stars in the world and Kim doesn’t fit that profile at all.”
