দক্ষিণ ভারতীয় ইন্ডাস্ট্রির অভিনেত্রী নয়নতারাকে (Nayanthara) চেনেন না এইরকম সিনেমা প্রেমিকে খুঁজে পাওয়া মুশকিল। নয়নতারা তাঁর সুন্দর মুখশ্রী এবং অভিনয়ের দখ্যতার জন্য দর্শকদের মন জয় করে নিয়েছেন । ২০০৩ সালে এই দক্ষিণী অভিনেত্রী তাঁর সিনেমা জগতে অভিনয়ের শুরু করে ছিলেন। তাঁর প্রথম সিনেমার নাম ছিল ‘মানসসিনাক্কার’ যা মুক্তি পেয়ে ছিল ২০০৩ সালে । এই সিনেমাটি করার পর আর নয়নতারাকে কোন দিন পেছনে ফিরে তাকাতে হয় নি । এর পর থেকে একের পর এক ব্লকবাস্টার সিনেমাতে অভিনয় করে এসেছেন নয়নতারা ।
আজ দক্ষিণী ইন্ডাস্ট্রিতে বেশি পারিশ্রমিক নেওয়া যে সকল নায়িকারা রয়েছেন তাঁর মধ্যে নয়নতারাও একজন । আজ এই জায়গার পৌঁছাতে নয়নতারাকে প্রচুর কাঠ খর পড়াতে হয়েছিল । তাছাড়া অভিনয়ের শুরুটা তার জন্য খুব একটা সুমধুর ছিল না । অভিনয়ের শুরুতেই তিনি পেয়েছিলেন কু -প্রস্তাব যেটা আজও তিনি মেনে নিতে পারেন নি । একটা সিনেমাতে প্রধান চরিত্রে অভিনয়ের জন্য তাকে প্রডিউসারের সঙ্গে রাত কাটানোর প্রপোসাল দেওয়া হয়েছিল কিন্তু নয়নতারা তা প্রত্যাখ্যান করে চলে আসেন । নয়নতারা জানান তাঁর নিজের অভিনয়ের দক্ষতার প্রতি আত্মবিশ্বাস ছিল এবং তিনি জানতেন তিনি একদিন কারুর সাজায্য ছাড়াই অভিনয় জগতে নাম করতে পারবেন যা তিনি করেওছেন ।
