James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy Eyes David Corenswet For The Cape And Tights – /Film

THR is reporting that multiple sources say Corenswet, who most recently starred with Ti West’s Mia Goth in “Pearl,” is advancing to screen tests that will take place later this spring. There are reports of two other mystery contenders, which could be a matter of keeping a fun surprise or throwing in a total unknown.

“Euphoria” star Jacob Elordi has been mentioned in casting discussions online, but he reportedly never put his name on the hat. Other names that were in the “initial mix” include British actors Tom Brittney and Andrew Richardson, but again, only in rumors. The list of actors being considered to play reporter Lois Lane reportedly includes “Sex Education” star Emma Mackey, “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” star Rachel Brosnahan (said to have auditioned “outstanding”) , “Bridgerton” star Phoebe Dynevor , and “Scream VI” star Samara Weaving. (Knitting as Lane is casting I can get behind!)

According to THR, Nicholas Hoult (“Renfield,” “The Great”) has been cast in the role of Lex Luthor. People have been talking about Hoult as a potential actor in “Superman: Legacy” for a while now, and some have surmised that he might be playing Superman. (Deadline senior editor Justin Kroll seems to think Hoult is still ready for Supesbut he may very well have auditioned for both!) I can’t imagine Hoult as the corn-fed Kryptonian, but he would make a lovely Lex Luthor, so here’s hoping.

This is all still up in the air, of course, with more screen tests and auditions to come before anyone makes a decision. We’ll have to wait, but it looks like Gunn is looking for some serious talent for DC Studios’ first movie, and that’s king.
