Dorit Kemsley’s slightly darker style is indicative of a new era.
“I felt like I needed a change,” the now-brunette “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star, 46, told Page Six Style at her homeless, toothless, Hollywood gala on Saturday night.
“Being blonde, it’s high maintenance,” she said of her past maintenance before joking, “And being picky as she is, I feel like my hair shouldn’t be that high maintenance!”
The Beverly Beach by Dorit designer, known for her impeccable fashion sense, said her “honey bronde” locks have inspired her to “explore other elements” of her style.
“My style is representative of my mood and how I feel, really. I dress myself,” said Kemsley, who rarely works with a stylist and prefers to shop for clothes herself.
“I don’t know why I take this on and create more work for myself, but I’m very particular about it,” he explained. “So, I think brown hair for me…I wanted something fresh, I wanted something different, and I was like, ‘You know what? It’s time.'”

Sartorial-minded bravolebrity decided to switch up her look when cameras began rolling for “RHOBH” season 13 this winter. Once fans caught a glimpse of Kemsley’s auburn locks pulled back into a high ponytail, social media comparisons to Ariana Grande poured in.
“Of course I was flattered. I mean, who wouldn’t be?” Kemsley said, adding with a laugh: “And because we’re so close in age, I can understand how people would really compare us.”
However, she made it clear that the 29-year-old pop superstar was not on her mind when celebrity colorist Sergio Garcia painted her mane.
“I hate to say no because it’s so adorable,” Kemsley said. “But not.”
Kemsley wore her hair in a half-up, half-down style at her Homeless Not Toothless benefit, complementing the skintight black dress she wore on the red carpet.
The lavish event, held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, was intended to raise funds for veterans, the homeless, foster youth and low-income individuals in Los Angeles to receive quality dental care.
“I had some goals. One was to create a beautiful night and make sure everyone in the room had a great time,” Kemsley said before the night began.
“And I think we’ll definitely have achieved that and I think we’ll raise a lot of money tonight as well.”
Paula Abdul was on hand to introduce the silent auction and special guest artist, ’80s dance diva Taylor Dayne, with Kemsley’s Homeless Not Toothless board members Sharon Stone and William H. Macy also in attendance.
The party was filmed for season 13 of “Beverly Hills,” which does not yet have a release date. The cast, including Kemsley, Crystal Kung Minkoff, Kyle Richards, Erika Jayne, Sutton Stracke, Garcelle Beauvais, and newcomer Annemarie Wiley, were on hand.
