‘All my stuff was gone’: Oklahoma tornado ripped through bride’s venue days before wedding

SHAWNEE, Okla. – Morgan Kendrick lost almost everything for his upcoming weekend wedding when a tornado struck Shawnee, Oklahoma on Wednesday, destroying the venue where his dress, decorations and other event items were located.

Kendrick noted that he was safe at home when the tornado hit. But after the overnight tornado passed, a contact at the wedding venue informed Kendrick of the extent of the damage.

“She just told me that it was all gone,” Kendrick said. “All my stuff was gone. Her house, the place. It was heartbreaking.”

He also learned that his contact was forced to take shelter from the storm in a concrete underground space.

But amid the devastation, Kendrick discovered good news: her dress was found under the rubble. Covered in mud, rust and water, the dress was taken to the dry cleaner to be restored.
