Hey, you know what? This looks great! It certainly looks better than “Death on the Nile,” with its constant CGI backgrounds and less-than-great performances. Of course, I’m a fan of ghost movies, so that might explain why I’m digging into what I see here. The film is “set in spooky post-World War II Venice on All Hallows’ Eve and is a terrifying mystery featuring the return of celebrated detective Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the city’s most glamorous of the world”. , Poirot reluctantly attends a séance in a haunted and decaying palace. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective is thrown into a sinister world of shadows and secrets.”
I did not notice that Poirot withdrew. But I guess you can’t keep that big mustache on for long, he’s got to get back in action! Once again, Branagh has assembled a star-studded cast, including Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio, and Michelle Yeoh. The question I have now is: will you continue to make these movies? I hope you do. Of course, the box office will also play a role: if no one sees this movie, I doubt they’ll greenlight another one. But I’m holding out hope. As long as Branagh is doing these mystery movies with great actors, I’ll watch them.
“A Haunting in Venice” scares the public on September 15, 2023.
